Job Description

Copello are looking for an FPGA Engineer on an initial 6 month basis to join an engineering consutlancy who are working on a project with a leading defence organisation based in the South West. The FPGA Engineer will manage the delivery of engineering and technical activities, through the application of process, electrical and electronic engineering knowledge, and experience. The role is directly accountable for designs, developments and determines solutions to problems and issues within a specialist subject area. Responsibilities The successful FPGA Engineer will be performing the following duties: * Translate high level requirements through to firmware requirements. * Formalise detailed designs using programmable logic specifications. * Implementation of RTL, constrained place and route through timing closure. * Produce verification strategies and schedules to address firmware requirements. * Develop test cases and procedures to verify that a design meets its specifications. * Design and utilise both unit level and BFM style verification test-benches to exercise RTL. * Produce documentation to fully support the design. The Firmware Engineer will be required to have following skills: * Experience of VHDL and/or Verilog * Strong exposure to TCL/Python * Working knowledge of ModelSim/QuestaSim * Candidates will have covered full life cycle for FPGA/Firmware * Familiarity with electronics design tools (such as Orcad and/or Altium) * Experience with microcontrollers and standard bus protocols, including I2C, SPI, USB, PCIe Due to the nature of the work candidates will ideally have valid SC clearance (or eligible of SC) and will be a sole British National. The role will require candidate to be on site 3 days a week in Barnstaple. The role is providing a flexible rate to candidates (outside IR35) dependant on experience
