Remuneration: £90 - £100 per assessment (dependent on experience and location). Each assessment will last 1 30-45 mins. Travel costs will be extra.
Overview
We are seeking experienced Orthopaedic Surgeons to join our national panel of medico-legal experts. This flexible, sessional role is ideal for consultants wishing to expand into medico-legal practice, providing independent assessments primarily for personal injury, road traffic accidents (RTAs), and more complex case types.
Key Responsibilities

Conduct in-person medico-legal assessments at clinics located near your home or primary practice.

Perform comprehensive physical examinations and evaluate a wide range of orthopaedic symptoms and injuries.

Carry out assessments that may involve the physical manifestations of psychological symptoms (e.g., PTSD, anxiety, flashbacks, depression).
*
Review and validate medico-legal reports prepared by our trained medical secretaries using your completed pro-forma notes.
*
Provide clear, objective, and evidence-based opinions in line with medico-legal standards.

Maintain professional independence and impartiality at all times.
Workflow & Support
*
Experts complete a structured pro-forma in note format during each appointment.
*
Our medical secretaries will convert your notes into a full medico-legal report.
*
You will then conduct a 15-minute review and validation of the completed report.
*
End-to-end administrative support is provided, allowing you to focus solely on clinical and expert work.

30-minute assessment followed by a 15-minute report review.

No ongoing treatment or follow-up responsibilities.
Requirements
*
GMC-registered Orthopaedic Surgeon with specialist registration.
*
Strong clinical examination skills across a broad range of orthopaedic conditions.
*
Prior medico-legal experience is desirable but not essential; training can be provided.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
