Duty 1:8 weeks and transfer at first hearing so SWs are not carrying court work which is unusual in a CP team. Our service offers a structured and positive working model, where Social Workers undertake duty on a 1 in 8-week rota. During duty weeks, newly allocated cases are progressed up to first hearing, after which they are transferred on for proceedings. This approach enables Social Workers to focus on timely decision-making and effective intervention, while maintaining sustainable caseloads. Our client St.Helens MBC is looking for a Team manager to join their Child protection team. The role of the Duty Team Manager is to manage a Duty team of 6 social workers, one social work assistant, with the support of one assistant team manager. The Duty Service, responds to all referrals from the front door and completes all children and family assessments. It will be the role of the Duty Manager to ensure the timely allocation and oversight of all allocations of assessments in the team and then subsequent plans that follow. The Duty Service doesn't hold cases on a long term basis and has transfer points at the point of ICPC, PLO or the issuing of care proceedings.
