English Teacher (QTS) - Basingstoke
Prospero Teaching is seeking a committed and inspiring Qualified English Teacher to join a secondary school in the Basingstoke area. This is a fantastic short‑term opportunity for a passionate practitioner who is ready for a new challenge and keen to make a strong impact within a supportive English department.
The role begins immediately after the Easter break and will continue until the end of the academic year, offering stability, consistent teaching responsibilities, and a chance to work with engaged pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4.
The Role:
Teach English Language and English Literature across KS3-KS4
Deliver well‑planned, engaging lessons with full teaching responsibilities
Mark work, assess progress, and provide meaningful feedback
Support a range of learners and help drive progress across the department
Create a positive, well‑managed classroom environment
Engage with departmental planning and collaboration
Ideal Candidate:
Holds QTS/QTLS (essential)
Strong subject knowledge and confidence teaching English at KS3 & KS4
Experience delivering GCSE English (any exam board)
A proactive classroom practitioner with strong behaviour management
Positive, organised, and committed to high standards
Suitable for both experienced teachers and strong ECTs
Contract Details:
Position: English Teacher (QTS)
Location: Basingstoke
Start Date: After Easter holidays
Contract: Full‑time, until the end of the academic year
Salary: £32,916 - £51,047 per annum
Key Stages: KS3-KS4
Experience, Training & Safeguarding:
QTS/QTLS required
Secondary English teaching experience preferred
Safeguarding training required (can be provided)
Eligibility:
Right to work in the UK
Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
Two relevant teaching references
