Commissioning Engineer
Altera Recruitment Group is supporting a specialist client within energy transition to recruit a Commisioning Engineer for a site-based role in Norfolk. This position will play a key part in supporting commissioning activities, plant operations, and engineering coordination as a new energy facility progresses toward full commercial operation.
The role is hands-on and varied, suited to an adaptable commissioning engineer who is comfortable working across operational, technical, and project-based responsibilities within a small, high-accountability team environment.
Key Responsibilities of a Commissioning Engineer
* Provide engineering and operational support during commissioning and early operational phases of the facility
* Assist with plant monitoring, performance tracking, and optimisation activities
* Support maintenance planning, contractor coordination, and engineering scheduling
* Contribute to technical discussions and collaborate with controls, operations, and project stakeholders
* Ensure safe working practices and support the transition into stable commercial operation
Candidate Requirements
* Solid engineering background gained through apprenticeship, HNC, or equivalent industry experience
* Experience working within industrial plant, process, or control room environments
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to coordinate multiple technical activities
* Hands-on approach with the ability to operate effectively in a live operational setting
* Excellent communication skills and the flexibility to work within a small, fast-paced team
