Early Career Teacher (ECT) – Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2  Location: Finchley, Barnet, London  Start Date: September 2026  Contract: Full-time, Temporary  Salary: £37,868 – £39,851 per annum (in line with Teacher Pay Scales - M1)  Teach Now is working in partnership with a small, welcoming primary school in Finchley to recruit an enthusiastic Early Career Teacher (ECT) for a September 2026 start. This role is open to ECTs interested in teaching Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2, depending on strengths and preferences.  This is a school with a big community feel, where staff know every child exceptionally well and new teachers are never left feeling “lost.” The close-knit team is highly supportive, making it an ideal environment for ECTs who want to develop confidence, skill, and classroom presence within a nurturing setting.  Why this role is perfect for an ECT  Small, friendly school with strong relationships across staff, pupils, and families  Weekly mentoring with an experienced Head of School who is also the ECT mentor  Structured and rigorous induction programme with hands-on support  Shadowing, team teaching, team marking, and guided planning in the first term  Protected ECT entitlement time, always prioritised  Planning, Workload & Wellbeing  PPA from home is embedded and working well  ECT time from home when mentoring meetings are not scheduled  Centralised planning and resources, including White Rose Maths and Cornerstones  Clear, structured writing plans provided centrally to reduce workload  Workload-conscious marking policy reviewed specifically to protect staff wellbeing  Support for Pupils – and for You  Around 40 pupils on the SEND register  Strong additional staffing, including 15 one-to-one TAs  Flexible intervention groups for all abilities, including higher attainers  Dedicated nurture, self-regulation, and intervention spaces  Key Responsibilities  Deliver engaging lessons in KS1 or KS2 with support and guidance  Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment  Work closely with mentors, TAs, and school leaders  Support pupil progress through assessment and feedback  Candidate Requirements  QTS (or on track to achieve by September 2026)  An Early Career Teacher keen to develop in KS1 or KS2  A reflective practitioner open to coaching and feedback  A team player aligned with a nurturing school ethos  This is a rare opportunity to begin your teaching career in a school where community, care, and ECT development are genuinely prioritised.  Salary will be determined in line with the Outer London Main Pay Scale and aligned to the Early Career Teacher (ECT) pay range (M1–M2).
