Cover Supervisor - Portsmouth
Prospero Teaching is recruiting confident and reliable Cover Supervisors to support secondary schools in the Portsmouth area. This role involves stepping into the classroom in the teacher's absence, delivering pre‑prepared lesson materials, and ensuring pupils remain engaged and on task.
You will be responsible for maintaining a positive classroom environment, supporting students with their learning, and ensuring behaviour expectations are met. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable classroom experience and would suit graduates, aspiring teachers, tutors, youth workers, coaches, or anyone with experience working with young people.
Work is available on a full‑time or flexible day‑to‑day basis depending on your availability.
The Role:
Deliver pre‑prepared lesson content across a range of subjects
Supervise pupils and maintain classroom routines
Manage behaviour in line with school policies
Support students with classroom tasks and engagement
Work across a variety of subjects as required
Provide cover for both pre‑planned and short‑notice absences
Follow safeguarding and school policies consistently
Ideal Candidate:
Experience working with young people (schools, coaching, tutoring, mentoring, etc.)
Confident leading a classroom independently
Strong communication and organisational skills
Calm, adaptable, and professional approach
Comfortable covering a range of subjects
Graduates and aspiring teachers encouraged to apply

Position: Cover Supervisor
Location: Portsmouth
Start Date: ASAP
Working Pattern: Full‑time or day‑to‑day
Pay Rate: Up to £130 per day
Key Stages: KS3-KS4
Experience, Training & Safeguarding:
Experience working with young people essential
Behaviour‑management experience beneficial
Safeguarding training can be provided
