Youth Worker - Classroom Support | Blackpool Secondary Urgent Start | Temp-to-Perm | Full-Time (Mon-Fri) Overview Are you a natural at building rapport with teenagers? Do you have the "street-smart" empathy needed to support young people through the challenges of secondary school? We are seeking a Youth Worker to step into the classroom at a vibrant Blackpool Secondary School. This isn't your standard TA role. We need someone who can speak the students' language, act as a mentor, and bridge the gap between home, the community, and the classroom. This is a Temp-to-Perm opportunity for someone looking to build a career in education or social support. Key Responsibilities Mentoring & Engagement: Working 1:1 or with small groups of students who are disengaged or struggling with the transition to secondary life. Behavioural Advocacy: Helping students manage their emotions and de-escalate conflicts before they disrupt learning. Classroom Presence: Supporting the teacher by keeping "high-energy" students on task and focused. Liaison: Acting as a trusted adult for pupils, helping them navigate social challenges, attendance issues, and self-esteem. Requirements (Essential) Personality: You must be approachable, firm but fair, and have a thick skin. Experience: Previous experience in youth clubs, sports coaching, outreach work, or supporting young people with challenging behaviours. DBS: Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply for one immediately). Commitment: Looking for a long-term, permanent role (starting as a temp trial).
