Position: Learning Support Assistant (SEMH Focus – 1:1 Support) Location: Southampton, UK (Close to M27, with excellent public transport links) Start Date: ASAP Contract: Permanent Salary: £85 – £95 per day (equivalent to approximately £13–£16 per hour, depending on experience) Make a Lasting Difference – One Student at a Time Are you passionate about supporting young people who face social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges? We are seeking a committed and compassionate Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to provide 1:1 support for a secondary school student in Southampton from September 2026. This is a permanent, full-time position offering the opportunity to truly make an impact in a young person’s life while working within a dedicated and supportive school team. About the Role As an SEMH-focused Learning Support Assistant, your responsibilities will include: Providing dedicated 1:1 support to a student with SEMH needs throughout the school day Helping the student access learning, build confidence, and stay engaged in the classroom Supporting emotional regulation and behaviour management using a trauma-informed approach Assisting during transitions, break times, and other non-structured periods of the school day Working collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCO, and pastoral teams to implement tailored strategies and interventions About the School The school is a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Southampton, catering to students aged 11–16.
