Quantity Surveyor – Water Services Projects Location: Bristol Salary: £40,000 – £50,000 + package Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time Our client is a specialist contractor delivering water services and infrastructure-related projects across the South West. Due to continued growth and a strong order book, they are looking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team in Bristol. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded Quantity Surveyor looking to develop within a specialist contractor working on varied water, utilities and civil engineering-related schemes. The Role As Quantity Surveyor, you will take responsibility for the commercial management of projects from initial tender stage through to final account. Your responsibilities will include: * Preparing and reviewing project costings, estimates and tender submissions * Reviewing drawings, specifications, scopes of work and contract documentation * Managing project budgets, forecasts and cost reports * Preparing valuations and applications for payment * Managing compensation events, variations and change control * Supporting procurement of materials, subcontractor packages and specialist services * Assessing subcontractor applications, payments and final accounts * Liaising with clients, project managers, site teams, suppliers and subcontractors * Identifying commercial risks and opportunities throughout project delivery * Assisting with final accounts and commercial close-out * Attending site and project meetings as required The Candidate The successful candidate will ideally have: * Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor, Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Engineer * Experience within water, utilities, civil engineering, infrastructure or specialist contracting would be advantageous * NEC contract knowledge or experience preferred, although this is not essential * Strong commercial awareness and good numerical skills * Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications and technical information * Good communication, negotiation and stakeholder-management skills * Competence with Microsoft Excel and commercial reporting * A relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Civil Engineering or Construction * A full UK driving licence and the ability to travel to project sites when required What Is Offered * Salary of £40,000 – £50,000, depending on experience * Competitive package * Permanent role with a growing specialist contractor * Exposure to varied water services and infrastructure-related projects * Supportive commercial and project delivery team * Long-term career development and progression opportunities This role would suit a Quantity Surveyor based in or commutable to Bristol who is looking to work on technically interesting projects within the water and utilities sector
