M&E Site Manager

Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for M&E Site Manager on a 18 Month Contract, based in Scotland. Role Summary Rubicon Consulting is seeking an experienced Site Manager to lead site delivery on a Substation Upgrade, working within a live HV substation environment for an 18-month initial contract term. The successful candidate will take full responsibility for day-to-day site operations, health & safety compliance, and coordination of works across the programme, ensuring delivery is safe, compliant, and on programme. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES * Manage all day-to-day site activities on the substation upgrade, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, and to the required quality standard. * Act as Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) for the site, managing the temporary works register and coordinating with designers, TW Supervisors, and checkers. * Operate as Authorised Person (C1 minimum) for switching and access, or coordinate closely with the client's Authorised Persons, ensuring safe systems of work are followed at all times. * Lead site inductions, toolbox talks, and daily briefings, embedding a strong safety culture across all site personnel and subcontractors. * Prepare, review, and approve RAMS, permits to work, and safe systems of work prior to activities commencing. * Coordinate and supervise subcontractors and specialist trades working within the substation compound. * Liaise directly with the client's project and engineering teams, providing regular progress updates and escalating risks or issues promptly. * Monitor site programme against the master schedule, identifying and mitigating delays. * Maintain full site documentation, including RAMS, permits, inspection records, and daily diaries. * Ensure compliance with CDM regulations and all relevant client and industry HSQE standards. Requirements ESSENTIAL CRITERIA * Valid CSCS card (Manager level). * SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) — valid and in date. * SSE Authorised Person status — C1 minimum. * Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) qualification/experience. * Proven experience as a Site Manager on HV substation projects. * Strong working knowledge of safe systems of work within live substation environments. * Excellent communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and subcontractors on site. DESIRABLE CRITERIA * Higher-level SSE Authorised Person status (C2/C3). * NVQ Level 6/7 in Construction Site Management or equivalent. * First Aid at Work certification. * Experience with GIS/AIS switchgear installation or upgrade works. * NEBOSH/IOSH Managing Safely qualification Our Company Rubicon Consulting is a Talent management consultancy which helps you to optimise business performance and competitive advantage by choosing the right people first time
