Cover Teacher – Secondary School, Portsmouth Start Date: September 2026 Contract: Full-time, long-term with the potential for a permanent position Salary: £140–£160 per day (dependent on experience and qualifications) The Opportunity An opportunity has arisen for a Cover Teacher to join a welcoming and supportive secondary school in the Portsmouth area from September 2026. This is a full-time, long-term position with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate. The school is seeking a confident, adaptable, and enthusiastic teacher who can deliver engaging lessons across a variety of subjects, maintain excellent classroom management, and ensure students remain focused and motivated in their learning. This role would suit a qualified teacher, Early Career Teacher (ECT), or experienced educator seeking a rewarding opportunity within a supportive secondary school environment. The Role As a Cover Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering pre-planned lessons across a range of subjects and year groups, ensuring continuity of learning during teacher absences. You will create a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere, manage behaviour effectively, and encourage students to achieve their best. Working closely with teaching and pastoral staff, you will play an important role in supporting the school's commitment to high standards of education and student wellbeing.
