Technical Author – Nuclear Decommissioning * Location: Sellafield, Cumbria * Start: As soon as possible * Contract: Approx. 18 Months / End of Project * Rate: £45 - £51 per hour - Depending on experience * IR35: Inside * Working arrangement: Predominantly site-based, with hybrid working at the line manager’s discretion * Security clearance: Must be eligible to achieve SC clearance Ceto Talent is supporting a leading international infrastructure and construction group with an established track record of delivering complex energy, transport, nuclear and critical national infrastructure projects across the UK. We are recruiting a Technical Author to support the Pre-Operations team on a major nuclear decommissioning infrastructure project at Sellafield. This Technical Author position forms an important part of Sellafield’s long-term nuclear clean-up programme. The new facility will receive nuclear waste, encapsulate it in concrete and prepare it for safe, modern storage. Working within a highly regulated nuclear Pre-Operations environment, the Technical Author will produce clear, accurate and compliant operational documentation. The plant will process waste from four key legacy facilities: * Magnox Swarf Storage Silo * First Generation Magnox Storage Pond * Pile Fuel Storage Pond * Pile Fuel Cladding Silo Key responsibilities As the Technical Author, your responsibilities will include: * Producing compliant working-level nuclear operating, maintenance and emergency instructions within agreed timescales. * Developing risk-assessment requirements to support working-level instructions. * Reviewing nuclear engineering, design and vendor information to produce Volume C documentation. * The Technical Author will carry out plant-based validation of operating instructions. * Incorporating post-validation feedback and red-pen changes into controlled nuclear documentation. * The Technical Author will coordinate communication between engineering, commissioning and operational stakeholders. * Supporting nuclear plant walkdowns and site familiarisation activities. * The Technical Author will provide weekly progress updates and attend project meetings. * Maintaining consistent quality standards across all technical documentation. * As a Technical Author, promoting a strong safety culture and supporting the project’s Zero Harm objectives. Experience and qualifications * Previous experience within the nuclear industry is essential. * Experience working within a nuclear decommissioning, commissioning, operations or engineering environment would be highly beneficial. * Minimum HNC qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. * Strong written communication and technical documentation skills. * Competent using Microsoft Word, Excel and Visio. * Able to interpret engineering drawings, design documentation and vendor information. * Previous Technical Author experience is advantageous but not essential. * Must be eligible to obtain SC security clearance.
