Belmont Recruitment are looking for an experienced Category Manager to join a leading waste management organisation. This role sits within the Procurement team and focuses on managing third-party subcontractors who provide waste haulage and disposal services across multiple waste streams.
This is a temporary contract for 3 months with a view to extend onto a FTC.
Key Responsibilities

Develop, implement and manage strategic category plans for haulage and waste disposal

Lead competitive tendering processes and procure subcontracted waste services
*
Negotiate rates and contractual terms across all waste streams
*
Manage third-party subcontractor relationships to ensure performance, compliance and value
*
Analyse market trends, cost drivers and risk factors to support decision-making
*
Work closely with operational, commercial and procurement teams to align category strategies
*
Ensure all activity supports wider Group Procurement initiatives and governance
*
Drive continuous improvement, cost optimisation and supplier innovation
What We’re Looking For
*
Proven experience in category management, procurement or commercial roles
*
Strong background in waste management, haulage, transportation, or related sectors
*
Experience managing third-party subcontractor relationships
*
Excellent negotiation, analytical and stakeholder engagement skills
*
Ability to lead tender processes and manage complex service contracts
*
Understanding of hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams (desirable)
