Social Housing Support Workers The Opportunity: We are seeking compassionate, proactive, and dedicated Support Workers to join our teams across Kendal and Barrow-in-Furness on a temporary, monthly contract basis. In this rewarding role, you will work within social housing settings to provide vital day-to-day assistance to vulnerable residents, empowering them to sustain their tenancies, build independent living skills, and thrive within their local communities. Key Duties: * Deliver high-quality, person-centred support to residents, tailoring your approach to meet their individual needs and goals. * Assist customers with practical independent living skills, including budgeting, managing rent accounts, and navigating welfare benefits. * Conduct regular welfare checks and health and safety inspections across housing schemes to ensure resident well-being and compliance. * Act as a key point of contact for residents, offering emotional support, crisis intervention, and a listening ear. * Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary internal teams and external partner agencies, such as health and social care services. * Maintain accurate, up-to-date daily logs, incident reports, and support plan documentation using digital tools. * Coordinate with housing officers to assist with the smooth transition of residents during sign-ups, move-ins, and void processes. Requirements: * Experience: Previous experience in a customer-facing or care/support role—ideally within social housing, social care, or community outreach—is highly desirable. * Values: A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach with a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable individuals. * Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle sensitive situations calmly and professionally. * Knowledge: A basic understanding of the challenges facing social housing residents and the importance of adult safeguarding. * Administration: Proficient IT skills for updating digital support plans, log entries, and emails. * Compliance: Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check. * Mobility: A valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is advantageous for traveling between local schemes.
