Join Our Team as a Catering Assistant - Long-Term Sickness Cover Location: Great Western Hospital Hourly Rate: £12.71 Contract Type: Temporary Duration: Long-term sickness cover (ongoing, no fixed end date) Hours: 37.5 hours per week (7.5 hours per day, 5 days per week) You will be required to work 5 days per week A rota will be provided up to 6 weeks in advance Shifts will vary between: 07:00 - 15:00 11:00 - 19:00 12:00 - 20:00 Full flexibility is essential, and you must be able to work all listed shift patterns About the Role Are you passionate about food and making a difference in people's lives? What You'll Be Doing Food Preparation & Service Assist with preparing meals, snacks, and beverages Follow portion control and presentation standards Pack, label, and store food safely, including allergen-sensitive and texture-modified diets Serve food in line with hygiene and safety procedures Food Safety & Compliance Adhere to HACCP principles and Level 2 Food Hygiene standards Complete daily food safety checks and temperature logs Cleanliness & Hygiene Clean equipment and surfaces in line with infection control standards Support deep cleaning schedules and maintain organised work areas Productivity Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment to ensure timely meal delivery About You Essential Skills & Experience Basic reading and writing skills Experience in a catering or food service environment Knowledge of food hygiene, safety, and allergen awareness Strong communication and customer service skills Ability to work in a fast-paced and sometimes cold environment Desirable Experience in healthcare or care home catering Knowledge of healthcare dietary requirements (e.g. IDDSI) Good record-keeping skills Personal Qualities Reliable and hardworking Team-oriented with a positive attitude Safety-conscious with strong attention to detail Flexible and adaptable to service demands Why Join Us?
